The Darlings: LA rockers The Darlings have come a long way since their inception in 2005. After beating out hundreds of bands to win this year’s Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, the Darlings had their song “What Lies Below” picked up by the Anaheim Ducks, who used the track for their 09/10 season promo spots on Prime Ticket. The band’s song “Broken Heart Still Beating” has also been in steady rotation on influen...tial LA modern rock station KROQ’s Locals Only show for months. In addition to taking part in the Vans Warped Tour for the third time last summer and securing endorsements from Ernie Ball and Supernatural Cymbals, they hit the road on tours with Face To Face, Strung Out, Pennywise and shared the stage with Sum 41, Bad Religion, and Social Distortion. The Darlings latest release, The New Escape melds the individual members’ classic rock and alternative influences into a hearty dose of honest and pure, rock and roll that steers clear of trends and posturing. Stand out songs include "Broken Heart Still Beating" "Hypnotize" "Head Hunter" and "These Wings." The New Escape was recorded at Z Studios and Tao Creations in Los Angeles and was produced/recorded/mixed by Ed Faris. Guest musician’s include Donnie Nemarnik of Tiger Army who plays pedal steel guitar on "Head Hunter" and Jayson Cruz of Strung Out who provides back up vocals on "Where Do We Go."
Eken is Dead: What is EKEN IS DEAD you ask? EID stands for taking the next step in your life; It’s conquering your old dreams and moving on to new. It’s killing off what you once believed in and fighting for what matters to you now. Started in a garage in 2003, Vic Arevalo formed the band then known as Eken. A word that essentially meant nothing, but stood for everything Vic believed in. Eken was an untainted pure creation and the first venture into the battlefields of the Los Angeles music scene. The formative years were tough and the battles fought changed the face and lineup of what Eken could no longer be. Only with the additions of Jack Espinoza (drums), Chris Navarrete (vocals), and Gagg Green (bass), was the machine strong enough to take on what was next... EKEN IS DEAD (say it like wreck, not eek) is a Los Angeles, CA based four-piece hard rock alternative/metal act. Since it's inception of 2008, EKEN IS DEAD has been on a mission of domination. In just three years, EID has earned a well deserved reputation based on professionalism and commitment to excellence. Whether an intimate local show or a packed House of Blues, EKEN IS DEAD has consistently brought their high intensity and charismatic presence to every single one of their shows. In addition to the relentless live schedule for which they have toured both regionally and internationally, EKEN IS DEAD has independently released two full length albums including their latest effort, What Lies in the Mirror. EKEN IS DEAD’s “No Retreat, No Surrender” attitude in all they take on is evident as everyday is treated as an opportunity. They continue to grow musically while sharing stages with the biggest acts all over the region and turning on new listeners, all without ever compromising their integrity as musicians or humans. It is this commitment that sets them apart
